Kurt Bozant (Chairman)

Appointed by Representative Mike Strain; exp August 26, 2011

Kurt is Vice President, Business Banking Relationship Manager with Regions Bank in Slidell. He has worked for Regions Bank since August 2006. Prior to coming to Regions Bank, he worked for Parish National Bank and Whitney National Bank in similar capacities. Kurt has lived in Slidell since 1991, and the thing he likes most about Slidell is the quality of life. "My wife, Colette, and I have 5 children as follows: Blake, 14; Courtney, 12; Bradley, 10; Brock, 8; Brandt, 4." In addition to being on the ESTECC board, Kurt is a volunteer baseball coach with SBBA, a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Slidell, and a member of the Greater Slidell Chamber of Commerce. Kurt serves as Chairman of the Northshore Harbor Center.

Derise "Deb" Morel  (Past Chairman)

Deb has been with Thompson Packers, a local meat packing facility, since 1970, and now presides as Vice-President of the corporation. Deb will tell you the real reason he moved here "was to raise a family in a friendly wholesome environment where life values and education are considered of primary importance." He has resided in Slidell since 1974, and raised three successful boys with his wife Ann. He is an active member of St. Lukes Catholic Church, and has sat on many Boards throughout the community. Deb became chairman of the East St. Tammany Events Center Board in 2004.

Larry Hess

Appointed by the East St Tammany Parish Chamber of Commerce; exp January 2011

Larry Hess has been married to Janice Hess for 39 Years, and is the proud father of two adult sons Scott and Mickey, and the world’s only spotless Dalmatian - Mulligan. He holds a B.A. from Lewis University, graduating Magna Cum Laude Business with a concentration in Fire Department Administration. Currently he serves the St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1 as Fire Chief. He has served on Boards and Commissions scuh as St. Tammany Parish Communications District, Chairman St. Bernard Parish Local Emergency Planning Committee Member St. Tammany Parish Local Emergency Planning Committee. "I have a strong belief that members of the community have an obligation to participate in the governance, oversight and leadership of the public agencies that have such positions within the community."

Warren Berault

Appointed by Slidell City Council; exp Sep 1, 2013.

Warren has worked with Northwestern Mutual Financial Representative for 26 years. He's married with four grown children, and proud to say they were all happily raised in Slidell. He holds a Master of Science degree in Urban Studies, and was elected 1982-1994 Slidell City Council, District E. Former Executive Director for Downtown Development District of New Orleans.


Shirley Crawford

Appointed by the Aldermen of Pearl River, expires August 2013.

Shirley Crawford, a native of Pearl River, Louisiana, graduated from Pearl River High School and then attended the University of New Orleans. She is currently an Area Supervisor for Ross Stores. Active in the community, she is on the Planning and Zoning committee of Pearl River, and volunteers for the Breast Cancer Association and the American Heart Association. Shirley is very proud of her son and two grandchildren, and she and her husband celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary this year.


Michelle Pichon

Apointed by Sentor Schedler, expires November 2010.

Michelle is the Legislative Assistant to Senator Tom Schedler, and has worked for the Louisiana Senate for 11 years. She is also a Louisiana licensed real estate agent. Michelle is a native of Slidell and chooses to raise her two sons, Brandon and Nicholas, here because of the quality of life. Michelle has formerly served on the board of directors for both the Greater Slidell Chamber of Commerce and St. Tammany Association for Retarded Citizens, and remains very involved in children's education and extracurricular activities.


Hannah Rucker

Appointed by the Parish Council; exp December 2010

Hannah has an undergraduate degree in English/Secondary Education from University of New Orleans, and a Master’s plus 30 additional hours in Administration and Supervision from Southeastern. She is presently the Principal at St. Tammany Junior High School. She has served as President, Board of Directors for Youth Service Bureau, 2001-2003, a Board member for YSB 1998-2003 and chaired the Youth Recognition Program for the same time period. Her work with YSB included programs of Juvenile Drug Court, FINS, CASA and Crossroads. She's involved in the Chef Soiree, the United Way, and as a Community Resource Advisor for Greater Covington Junior Service League, 2000-2004. She is currently on the Board of Directors for STARC. While at Mandeville High School, Hannah was recognized by a Joint Resolution from La. Legislature in recognition of work with youth in our community (2003). She resides with husband, Dwight, three daughters and seven grandchildren in Slidell.


Darrell Smith

Appointed by Senator Boasso; exp. December 2011

Darrell is a retired senior naval officer with over 23 years experience in oceanography, meteorology and hydrography in support of global military operations.  He has held several leadership positions and has served on numerous Admiral's staffs.  After retiring from the Navy, he was a Regional Business Development/Program Manager for Battelle Memorial Institute, a not-for-profit R & D company, supportingn the Intelligence Community.  He was the first Director of the Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) Laboratory for the Hydrographic Science Research Center at The University of Southern Mississippi.  He spent several years with the U.S. Department of State as the Director of the New Orleans Passport Agency.  Darrell is presently the Director of the Mine Warfare Department at the Naval Oceanographic Office at Stennis Space Center.  He is also a 1999 graduate of Leadership Slidell.


Arnold "Skinny" King

Appointed by Representative Greg Cromer, exp. February 2012

Skinny and Dixie have been married 55 years.  They have two children, Scott and Kelly.  He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University.  Skinny moved to Slidell in 1959 and started to work for General Electric Capital Corporation and retired with G.E.C.C. after 31 years of service.  He is a member of First United Methodist Church and the Slidell Noon Lions Club.


Andy Prude 

Appointed by Slidell City Council, exp. September 1, 2013.

Andy is an independent Financial Advisor and Certified Financial Planner™ in Slidell.  He has worked in the financial services industry since graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Marketing degree "91" and an MBA "93".  He is a Slidell native who has been very active in the community, having served on several boards, most recently serving as President of the Rotary Club of Slidell.  Andy is a graduate of Leadership Slidell and Leadership Louisiana. He currently serves on the boards of The Rotary Club of Slidell, and the Olde Towne Residents Association.

He lives in Olde Towne Slidell with his wife, Sue, and their two children, Drew and Kate.

Boni Johnson

Appointed by Slidell Mayor Ben Morris, expires March 20, 2014

Robert D. Johnson, PhD, brought bride Boni to Slidell in 1985.  She began teaching at Boyet Junior High, establishing the Youth Education Success (YES) Program.  her book describing her techniques is still used by teachers of the program.  Retiring in 1990, Ms. Johnson consulted throughout the state, guiding other parishes in adopting the YES program.  With the cooperation of the Slidell Mayor and Council, Boni was instrumental in enabling the Slidell ART League to establish their gallery in the train station  There, she was able to motivate artists who carried out the Our Part Throu' Art (OPTA) program, raising funds by roasting Mayors Sam Caruso and Ben Morris. 

Some groups with which Ms. Johnson has served are Rotary's Inner Wheel, Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers' Sorority, CASA, SMH Women's Auxiliary, representing that group as a maid in the Slidell Women's Civic Club Ball, the Chamber of Commerce, charter member of the Friends of the Harbor Center, and a prior term with the Harbor Center Board of Directors.  She presently pursues her Life Tutor practice and her art.  Ms. Johnson loves the quality of life and friends that living in Slidell affords her, and feels the Harbor Center enhances that for us all.

Joe Anderson  (Chairman Emeritus)

Joe has been married to Pamuella Byrd Anderson since 1974 and is the father of two sons Joseph and James. This is a big year for the Andersons as son Joseph graduates from Vanderbilt University and James graduates from Slidell High. Joe has practiced law in Slidell since 1977 and was a special prosecutor for St. Tammany Parish's District Attorney's office from 1981 to 1984. He is a past president of the Slidell Bar Association and St. Tammany Bar Association and is a member of numerous professional, social and civic organizations. Today Joe is managing partner of Anderson and Anderson. He was chairman of the East St. Tammany Events Center Commission from 1991-2004. The idea of the Northshore Harbor Center was created at a Slidell Chamber of Commerce Board Retreat and Joe was present during that weekend. He is proud to have been with this project since it was just a brainstorm conception and stayed to see it thorough the building's successful opening.

Graydon Hass, Former Treasurer  (Deceased)

Graydon contracted as a management consultant for the automotive industry after a career in research and development with the military and executive management with Chrysler Corporation. Graydon lived in Slidell since 1965, and had the joy of raising three sons with his artistic and talented wife Lonnie. When asked why this is the place to retire his answer was "the relaxed atmosphere of the community and cultural opportunities available at your fingertips make me happy to stay." Graydon was instrumental in building the Slidell Little Theater, served on their theatre board for many years and was a life member. Before the Harbor Center he also assisted in building the Cultural Center and the First Methodist Church. Graydon served as chair for the Space and Function committee.
